  1. What's the difference between walking with nazzario and willie bodega wrong the neighborhood ?

The difference between walking with bodega and nazzario is that with bodega you feel like u walking by yourself. but with nazzario you feel popular and you feel important around your neighborhood. For example when chino was walking with bodega he felt where because apse fire he met with bodega he was with nazzario, one quote I choose was "unlikely walking with nazzario an everyone came up to and greeted you,saw you in a different light because of he company.!,with bodega was as casual as if you were walking with your grocery." This reveals how chino feels like willie is really not I'mportant to the neighborhood as he thinks but in the other and nazzario is important and his just a lawyer that help people,in conclusion chino feels like he prefer walking with nazzario because of they way he feels when his by his side .

  2. Why does Chino say Nazarios eyes are black holes?

Chino says that Nazarios eyes are like black holes because when he looks into Bodegas eyes he sees ghost and sadness but when he looks intos Nazarios eyes he says in his mind " Unlike Bodegas eyes, which were pools of ghosts and sadness, Nazarios were black holes, nothing could escape them, not even light, as if he could read your mind. He inspired and at the same time intimidated me." This quote proves why chino says that his eyes are like black holes. Black holes are a mass of never ending darkness and when he looks into Nazrios eyes he sees that because he doesnt know what Nazario is or thinks of its like you cant see anything in Nazarios eyes its pure darkness what he thinks of and what he is.

    1. Good analysis of an interesting quote. It could have been improved by more context describing who Nazzario is as a character. 8/10

  4. Who did Sapo killed Alberto Salazar?

Willie Bodega says that Sapo killed Alberto Salazar because Salazar made a deal with a guy named Fischman. Willie Bodega hated Fischman. Salazar was killed because he didn't even make a deal with his own people. In page 114, it says "Why'd you have Salazar killed?" "Because Salazar was crooked." Salazar didn't took Bodega's money because he belonged to someone else. "This Alberto Salazar. I think I got problems because he's a good man. Then Nazario finds out Salazar made a deal with Fischman. " (115) They basically killed Salazar just because he didn't make deals with Bodega. Willie Bodega felt that he was betrayed by him so he wanted him killed and he told Sapo to him the favor and kill him.

  5. Why does Bodega not want to present himself to people as himself, Willie Bodega?

In this chapter Bodega and Chino are walking together and they get stopped by a man whom wants Chino to tell Nazzario to thank Bodega for his services. Bodega introduces himself as someone else. He hints on Chino to not tell this man that Bodega is the one next to him. In my opinion I think it's a bit dumb to do that, I mean not get credit for something you are doing. But i can also see that Bodega is probably trying to protect his identity in some sort away and he fears that if they knew he was Bodega then he will be loose power, be less feared in a way. In the book Bodega says, "I know what you're thinking Bodega said, but if you see God he won't seem that powerful anymore." This shows that in this quote Bodega is referring to himself as God and that if he people know who he is he won't be as powerful people could rat him out or can defeat him in some way. So, Bodega has his reasons of not presenting himself, he wants power, power over everything and he believes to succeed you need to be unknown, feared about who you really are.

  6. Chayanne L:

    Why is nazario a chameleon?

Nazario is a chameleon because Nazario speaks cleanly and he is able to adapt to different situations. In this chapter, Nazario shows up for Bodega to talk to Chino. On page 98 it says “Nazario spoke cleanly and used his slang only when it suited him… like bodega had told me he needed people to represent me in my absence”. This quote shows that Nazario is a person who could blend in the hood, and at city hall. This is important to Bodega because he needs to renovate the buildings to give people homes, and in return for drugs.

Why does Bodega love and hate Vera?

Bodega loves and hates Vera because he feels hurt and he can’t express himself to her. In this chapter Bodega shows up to the school with Chino and they start talking. On page 112 it says “Cuz there aint no difference between a whore who sleeps for money and one that marries for it! Shit!”. This quote demonstrates that bodega uses strong language about Vera and this shows how heartbroken he still feels about her.

  7. why did Nazzario take chino to the salsa museum ?

Nazzario takes Chino to the museum to see the girl from the med school, to show Chino Bodega's big picture of helping the neighborhood .Chino didnt know why he was being taken to the museum. chino show that when he says " The music of our people? No.Bygone times? then it hit me. it was the mans girl." The mans girl is the girls from med school. Chino at first didn't know the reason someone he dislike, taking him to the salsa museum. He needs to meet the girl from med school for he can show Chino whatBodega does for people because Bodega payed for her needs to go to med school.

  8. Why Chino doesnt want to get more involved with Bodega?

He doesnt want to get involved because he does not know the whole plan. Chino Was told he had to meet up with Bodega. He just wants him to find Vera and he wants to stop helping Bodega. For example "I didn't want to get more involved, but not knowing what was really happening might hurt me."(99) This means that Chino is already involved enough that he could get hurt. Also he wants to know what is really going on but he has a family that he has to take care of and doesnt want to risk that. Chino doesnt want to continue helping Bodega and his people.

  9. What are some of Nazario's characteristics?

Nazario was stubborn and sneaky. When Chino and Nazario was walking, Chino discribed him very differently from Bodega. For example " And unlike Bodega, who said excatly what was on his mind, Nazario would tell you only what he felt was necessary."(99) This proves that if Nazario has a goal or believed in something, he would only tell you good things about what he believed to get what he wants. Also he doesnt say both sides of the story he only says the part where he thinks is correct. This is being stubborn and sneaky because he is only sticking to what he believes and he would do anything to get what he wants. These are Nazario's characteristics.

  10. Can you trust a guy like Nazario?

Nazario is the type of guy that would tell you a part of what you want to know but will leave out all the exact details off of everything. Also another thing a person like Nazario would do is not trust a new person like he dose with chino he dosent really trust chino. One example of his characteristics is "And unlike Bodega, who said exactly what was on his mind, Nazario would tell you only what he felt was necessary." This proves that Nazario always has something to hide because there's always something else going on when it has to do with Nazario because hes really smart and theres always a loop hole with a lawyer like him so hes actually very sneaky. So this proves that you cant really trust a person like him to much.

  11. Dose bodega really still love Vera?

Well to be honest it dosent really look like he loves her but he really dose a good job at like at giving her gifts and showing that he dose love her but it looks like to me hes kind of bipolar about Vera he could love her in on second and hate her in the next minute. For example “Cuz there aint no difference between a whore who sleeps for money and one that marries for it! Shit!" he says this like he dosent still love her when it pretty obvious that he still has a love for her because hes spending alot of money just to get a look at her so i do think he really still loves her.

  12. Why did Bodega use the limo to pick up Vera?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez Bodega goes to pick up Vera in order to impress her. Bodega likes Vera and decides to pick her up in a limo in order to impress her. In the text it says "It's not rented, Bodega blurted out." This quote shows how Bodega try to impress Vera by showing off his limo. He also blurted out that the limo is not rented in order to show off that he has money.
