  1. Does Chino consider Nazarion a bad person?

Chino considers Nazario a bad person because he changes the way he acts toward people. Nazario would be the type of person to have two different personalities to gwt what he wants. Right now in the story, Chino went to meet up with Nazario. Nazario wanted to talk to Chino about something. When they met they first started talking about what would happen with Vera when she comes. Also Chino was not feeling comfortable with Nazario and Nazario knew that Chino was not feeling comfortable. "It was Nazario who, by blending his education with politeness, had made himself be looked upon with love, respect, and a little fear throughout the neighborhood. His smile could be magically disarming but his head was crowded with practicality and genius. Unlike Bodega's eyes, which were pools of ghosts and sadness, Nazario's were black holes, nothing could escape them, not even light, as if he could read your mind. He inspired and at the same time intimidated me." (Quiñonez 98). This quote shows that Chino was explaining, trying to understand the way that Nazario was. As of this he got to understand that you have you have to be the way you are so that people could respect you and you could be somebody in life.

    1. Cut the quote down a bit so it is mostly your explanation and just 1 - 2 sentences of the most important parts of the quote. Also proofread for typos -- "gwt." 9/10

  2. Why is Chino keeping secrets from Blanca?

Chino is keeping secrets from Blanca because he knows what Blanco would do. Blanca knows what type of person Chino hangs out with and she doesn't want chino to get involved but he doesn't listen to her. Right now Chino and Nazario are talking about something that Chino knows will get him in some real trouble. :With Salazar dead I, didn't want cops coming to my house asking questions because Blanca will kill me, maybe even leave me. I couldn't chance that." (100) This quote shows that Chino is alert that if he gets into any problem involving the cops that Blanca and with the baby coming wont like that idea and maybe even leave him.

  3. Why does Chino refer to Nazario as a Chameleon?

Chino was walking out the new building to go to work and he saw Nazario, he saw how people greet and thanked him for the things his doing for the community. Chino feels that Nazario is being hypocrite because he tends to be one way with the people and another when hes with Bodega. One piece of evidence that show this is when Chino saids " I could already see that Nazario was a chameleon. He had the uncanny ability to be stoically cold under pressure and extremely warm with the people...It was Nazario who, by blending his education with politeness, had made himself be looked upon with love, respect, and a little fear through the neighborhood(98)”. This quote demonstrate how Chino shows a metaphor to compare Nazario and the chameleon. Chino makes this comparesion because a chameleon blends in with colors weather for his own benefit or to avoid being harm by other predators. This relates to Nazario because he does the good things he does for the community to make himself look like a hero and make people admire him for the good causes his doing for the people. He wants people to like him and have love, respect and a little fear.- Geissel Soler

  4. A motif that comes up in round 2 is Royatly.

Chino has an idea of who might of killed Salazar because a couple years back when Blanca, Chino and Sapo used to go to school together Sapo had a confrontation with his English teacher. Things got out of hand and Sapo ended up biting and tearing a piece of his skin off. He though what a coincidence that when Salazar was found dead he had quite the same bite mark in his body and sings of struggle. Although everything points his way Chino doesn't snitch on him. For example he says "I wanted nothing to do with Bodega because i was sure he was connected to salazar's death. I hated to know that that would include Sapo too, but I had begun to wonder is Salazar was the first man Sapo had killed. If Sapo killed that reporter then he deserved to go to jail. I thought that, but i knew I didn't mean it. I felt bad for Sapo(97)”. This quote proves how Chino is a true friend and in a way is covering up a murder. He loves and cares about his Pana a lot and wants the best for him but he feels heartbroken because he wants to help Sapo , and Sapo doesn't want to get out of the guetto. - Geissel Soler

  5. JEROME KALLOO:

    What is a chameleon?

A chameleon is someone who just blend in. Basically just in to be be around like he or she knows what going on but dose not. Only want to be around to get to know thing and find out things they need to. On page 98 it says " He refused to take it gentle struggling. She needed it more then he did....He final accepted it and tell her in Spanish who iam to take from you of the gift of giving" This quotes shows you how he is all about him self and is bossy

    1. This post is very rushed and confusing. Your quote doesn't relate to your topic sentence (about being a chameleon). 5/10

  6. Is Bodega nervous?

He is nervous because he was about to smoke a joint and he looked nervous to Chino. " I know what your thinkin, Bodega said if you see God he won't see that powerful anymore." He then licked his lips as he had been doing all morning, shoved his hands in his pockets, and then took them out again. He waked fast and I had to tell him again and again calm down." This shows that Bodega is so nervous about seeing Vera that he cant even think strait.

  7. What does it mean to be a chameleon?
What it means to be a chameleon it's an animal that proctected himself from danger by doing what they need to do with it's body by camafladging themselves, for example nazzario was compare to that animal because of how he acts with himself and people around himself one quote I choose was, "I could already see that nazzario was a chameleon, he had the uncanny ability to be stoically cold under pressure and extremely warm with people."this shows how nazzario act like a chameleon because he would not show how he feels, he would show you what u need to think his feeling like a chameleon he changes color to protect it himself from harm or people around them.

  8. Is Chino starting to believe in Bodega and Nazario dreams?

Now that chino is starting to understand what bodega and nazario are trying to do he is starting to believe in it. "It was at this moment on that I realized all the hopes were bigger than me, more important than any one person. If these dreams of theirs would take off, El Barrio would burn like a roman candle, bright and proud for decades"(106) This shows that chino is starting to believe in what bodega and nazario are trying to do and he realizes how much it would help el barrio for a long time.

  9. Do You think that Sapo has anger issues?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez I think that Sapo does not have anger issues. I think that Sapo does things for a reason. Sapo is a kind of guy who would respect others but most of all he would respect himself. In the text it says "...Blessington made the mistake of putting Sapo into a headlock.""...Sapo dug his teeth into the base of the teacher's neck." This quote shows how Sapo dug his teeth into Blessinton's neck for a reason because Blessington was the one to start the problem by putting Sapo into a headlock. This shows how Sapo doesn't have anger issues.
